Youth Support Service
• This service, headed by a Youth Support Worker, supports the delivery and development of sexual health
and drugs and alcohol services among young people through outreach, support and, where appropriate, needle and syringe exchange services.
This is achieved by maintaining and developing contact with young people :-
- on the street
- in school/college settings
- where they gather locally.
• Our work with young people focuses on condom distribution, pregnancy testing and appropriate levels of safe sex advice. We also engage with them on topics such as alcohol consumption and drug use and their attitudes towards, and experience of, sexual health issues.
• The Youth Support Worker accepts referrals for more intensive one to one support from clients aged under 22. This can involve work with school pupils and those attending training courses and further education, as well as people from the wider community.
