Treatment Services
• WFCDT works in partnership with clinics and their GPs offering a treatment service to those experiencing difficulties from substance misuse.
• We have regular clients operating on a ‘shared care’ basis in 4 GP practices in the West Fife area. Please contact WFCDT for details of venues/times.
• The role of WFCDT in shared care clinics is to :-
- assess the level of a person’s illicit drug use
- explore and identify issues which may impact on drug use, for example, relationships, legal situation,
coping mechanisms and belief systems
- make recommendations on types of support assessed as being required by the patient/client.
This may include substitute prescribing, outreach support, counselling, referral to other services etc.
• WFCDT works alongside statutory service providers such as Fife NHS Addiction Services and Social Work Children and Families and Criminal Justice Teams. We also work closely with other agencies involved with clients to provide, so far as possible, integrated services for people with substance misuse problems.
